Lakshmi Manchu: Popular actress Lakshmi Manchu recently shared her thoughts on the large entourages that often accompany stars on film sets in India. She contrasted this with Hollywood where actors generally have fewer people around them.
In a discussion with the popular media, Lakshmi Manchu pointed out that in Hollywood actors often handle their chairs and have a single makeup and hair person. In contrast, Indian film sets are crowded with many people who have no direct role in the project. She questioned the necessity of having so many assistants for makeup artists, hairdressers, and even spot boys calling it excessive.
Lakshmi Manchu also noted the cultural differences between Bollywood and South Indian film industries. She stated that each industry has its unique quirks and it’s up to the actors to navigate these differences.

Lakshmi Manchu has also spoken about her struggles with patriarchal society. She described how her family was a significant obstacle when she wanted to move from Hyderabad to Mumbai for better work opportunities. Her family being close-knit, questioned her decision to move to a bigger city, fearing she would be a “small fish in a big pond.”
Despite initial resistance, Manchu eventually moved to Mumbai last year seeking better opportunities. However, she later clarified in another interview that she did not intend to blame her family calling the earlier reports misleading and expressing her deep respect for her father.
