L360: Mohanlal’s film postponed to 2025?

Mohanlal’s upcoming film tentatively known as L360 has reportedly been postponed to 2025. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, this film is Mohanlal’s 360th project creating excitement among his fans and the Malayalam film industry.

Filming for L360 began in April 2024, with Mohanlal playing the role of Shanmugham, a taxi driver from Ranni, Kerala. Shanmugham’s character is depicted as someone with a strong emotional connection to his old Ambassador car and who struggles with generalized anxiety disorder, adding a unique layer to the film.

The movie also features Shobana, marking her reunion with Mohanlal after 15 years, which has thrilled Malayalam cinema enthusiasts.

However recent reports suggest that the release of L360 initially planned for December 2024 has now been pushed to 2025. This delay is said to be due to the postponed release of Barroz Mohanlal’s directorial debut.

Barroz, a 3D fantasy film was initially set to release on September 12, 2024, but ongoing post-production work has delayed its release. The film is now expected to premiere in October 2024 around the time of Ayudha Pooja celebrations.

The delay in Barroz has led the L360 team to reconsider their release plans, aiming for at least a three-month gap between the two films.

If these changes are confirmed, Tharun Moorthy’s untitled project will likely debut worldwide in January 2025, making it Mohanlal’s first release of the year. The filmmakers have not yet officially commented on these reports.

Barroz tells the story of a mythical guardian spirit who has protected the hidden treasure of Vasco da Gama for over 400 years.

However, the film recently faced legal challenges from George Thundiparambil, a Germany-based Malayali author, who claims that the story bears striking similarities to his novel Maya. This copyright dispute has sparked conversations about the originality of Barroz’s narrative.
