L2 Empuraan cast remuneration:
Prithviraj Sukumaran became popular in Telugu as well with films like Salaar. This Malayalam hero has also proved as director as his directorial movie Lucifer bagged a blockbuster and now he is all set for its sequel. He has been promoting this Malayalam film L2: Empuraan which is considered one of the most expensive movies in the industry. The film features prominent stars like Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
Prithviraj while discussing the casting process revealed that he had initially envisioned actors from around the world including the US, UK and China. Notably international stars like Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney and Andrea Tivadar also joined the project. Although their agents negotiated higher pay, Prithviraj chose to keep the expenses reasonable ensuring more funds were allocated to production.
What’s more interesting is that Mohanlal and Prithviraj opted not to take any payment for their roles. According to Prithviraj, the objective was to use the budget for visual storytelling rather than actor salaries. Mohanlal stated that every rupee spent would be evident on screen. Prithviraj further explained that L2: Empuraan was not a typical Rs 100 crore film where a significant portion went toward actor fees.
The commitment to the film extended to international cast members like Jerome and Andrea, who reportedly participated in the project out of admiration for Indian cinema. Prithviraj also mentioned that Akshay Kumar followed a similar approach for the film Selfiee choosing to be paid only if the movie succeeded financially. Unfortunately as Selfiee did not perform well, Akshay did not receive any payment.
L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer and is set for a grand release on March 27 in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Fans eagerly await the film anticipating a spectacular cinematic experience.
