Krishna and his Leela, the first major direct-to-OTT release in Telugu cinema, despite being backed a major name like Suresh Productions surprisingly landed on Netflix with little or no promotions. However, it hasn’t dented the prospects of the film at all, given the widespread appreciation it has gone onto receive upon its release on the midnight of June 25. Featuring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Seerat Kapoor, Shalini Vadnikatti and Shraddha Srinath in major roles, the film’s refreshing insight into modern-day relationships resonated with one and all.
Not many expected that Ravikanth Perepu would be equally fluent with a rom-com as much as he was with the thriller genre (in Kshanam). Now after Netflix, the film is all set to premiere on another platform, Aha, on July 4. Commemorating its release on Aha, the team of Krishna and his Leela, including its director Ravikanth Perepu, co-writer and lead actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda and actor-producer Rana Daggubati came together for a fun virtual chat reliving their tricky journey of making the film.
There were some interesting incidents the team had talked about, from how Shraddha Srinath used to make notes to get the nuances of her character Sathya right to how Seerat Kapoor landed on the audition day sporting the look of Rukhsar and how Krishna’s character took time to evolve. Highlighting the efforts of its cast, the discussion was also proof to Rana Daggubati coming of age as a producer, backing a young team to deliver a new yet bold take on romance, understanding their efforts to make the story as real as possible. The conversation cast a light on what drives Rana Daggubati’s choices as an actor and a producer. The team told the journey through Krishna and his Leela was full of many twists and turns, though the result was sweet.
