Kolkata doctor murder case: Victim’s diary may reveal critical details

Kolkata doctor murder case: The investigation into the tragic incident involving the 31-year-old doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital last week has now centered on her diary. According to sources, the diary was given to the investigation team by the doctor’s parents.

The victim’s parents had earlier informed both the investigating officials and the media that their daughter was unhappy with something at the hospital. They mentioned that she had even told her family that she was reluctant to continue working there.

Sources suggest that the diary could offer crucial information about the victim’s emotional state before the incident. The investigators carefully examined the pages to see any signs of interaction, threats, or conflicts with the accused, Sanjay Roy. In addition to the diary, a notepad belonging to the doctor has also been found at the crime scene. This notepad and other material evidence are being analyzed for potential leads.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) plans to conduct additional scientific tests on the accused, Sanjay Roy. A team of psychological experts is set to arrive in Kolkata on Sunday to assist with this process. An official from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) mentioned that the experts would help conduct a psychological evaluation of the accused, which the investigation team deemed necessary.

The CBI team visited Roy’s residence on Saturday and collected several pieces of material evidence, including boxes from his barracks at the campus of the Kolkata armed police’s 4th battalion.

In a parallel development, the CBI has been closely examining the role of hospital management. Former principal Sandeep Ghosh was questioned for a second consecutive day at the CBI’s Salt Lake office. The agency is particularly interested in understanding why a suicide narrative was initially promoted and why there was a delay in informing the police. Records show that the first call to the Kolkata police was made at 10:10 a.m., 40 minutes after the body was discovered.

The CBI is also inquiring about the ongoing renovation work on the hospital’s fourth floor, which continued despite the incident. Investigators are suspicious that the renovation may have been an attempt to destroy or tamper with evidence near the crime scene, raising further concerns about the hospital’s conduct.
