Kobe Bryant‘s wife Vanessa has filed a law suit against Island Express Helicopters and the pilot Ara Zobayan who controlled the helicopter that killed the basketball legend and his teen daughter Gianna in January this year. As part of her lawsuit, Vanessa is seeking economic damages which could have been ‘hundreds of millions of dollars’ of Kobe’s future lost earnings.
The lawsuit was filed in February in Los Angeles Superior Court in which she has accused the pilot who had a responsibility of taking weather report and despite learning of poor weather conditions he failed to cancel the flight. It reads the pilot had a”duty to use that degree of care that an ordinarily careful and prudent pilot would use under the same or similar circumstances.”
The filing reads, “As a result of Kobe Bryant’s and GB’s deaths, Vanessa Bryant seeks economic damages, non-economic damages, prejudgment interest, punitive damages, and other relief as the Court deems just and proper”. The deadly crash happened on January 26, where other victims included John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester and Christina Mauser.
