This Sankranthi season could be a high stakes season for Telugu industry. The Telugu film viewers may have to shell out at least Rs 400 crore this Sankranthi to watch the four big releases. It is said that the total business for Boyapati-Cherry combo’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama is around 75-80 crore. This includes domestic, overseas and rest of India business.
Balayya Babu’s NTR biopic too did around Rs 80 crore business. F2, the film with Venky and Varun Tej, too did up to Rs 35 crore worth of business. Rajini’s Petta too did up to Rs 15 crore worth of business in Telugu states. The total business is worth Rs 200 to Rs 215 crore. This means these films have to collect around Rs 400 crore from the theatres to make profits.
In other words, at least 4 crore people must watch these movies. Besides, the viewer must also pay for parking, snaks and refreshments, drinkings and others. This mean, the Telugu people must spend up to Rs 450 crore.
