Actor Karan Johar has announced his next directorial venture Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani . Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will play the lead in the film that marks Johar’s return to direction after five years. However, there is another major casting in the film that has got Bollywood fans excited. According to reports, Johar has roped in Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. “All three veteran actors play a pivotal role in the film. Apparently, the film is going to be a mature love story and it will showcase a love triangle between the three veteran actors,” News 18 quoted sources as saying. Jaya Bachchan had collaborated with Johar in his 2011 directorial Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Johar took to Twitter and shared the announcement teaser of the film, written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy. “Thrilled to get behind the lens with my favourite people in front of it! Presenting ”Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani”, headlined by none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy,” the 49-year-old director tweeted. While Johar directed Bhatt in her 2012 debut movie Student of the Year, the new movie will mark the first collaboration between the filmmaker and Bollywood star Singh. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will be released in 2022.
