Dharma Productions head Karan Johar has been in the headlines since the demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The fans of bereaved actor has been blaming Karan for nepotism and not supporting outsiders from the industry. With vehement backlash, now Karan has said to quit from MAMI (Mumbai Academy Of Moving Image). According to reports, the director has submitted his resignation to the director of the annual film festival, Smriti Kiran.
Karan is said to have taken decision upon the online criticism he is being subjected to over nepotism row. He is also said to be upset for not finding voices in his support from his Bollywood counterparts which has resulted in the decision to quit from MAMI. Incidentally, Deepika Padukone, chairperson for the MAMI film festival, has tired to convince him asking him to refrain but Karan seems to have made up his mind.
With Twitter enraging over endless debates on nepotism and the boycott of late actor’s projects by biggies, Karan has unfollowed many on Twitter including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan among others. His counterparts Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha have also come under radar for taking the privilege of being star-kids.
