Kannappa looks like it won’t find a release date anytime soon
Manchu Vishnu’s much-awaited film Kannappa is experiencing delays, and its release date is still uncertain. Although there were hints for a December release, plans shifted after Game Changer took the same timeframe. However, since Game Changer has been postponed to January for Sankranti, a December slot is now open.
Other filmmakers are now eyeing the December 20–21 timeframe, with various projects ranging from big-budget films like Robin Hood to smaller ones like Sarangapani Jatakam competing for the same release window. Despite this competition, the team behind Kannappa has not yet made an announcement regarding their release date.
Insider sources indicate that several factors are causing the delay. Kannappa is a significant Pan-India project, and Vishnu has high expectations for its success. He aims for a wide release without relying on special appearances from big stars like Prabhas or Akshay Kumar to attract audiences.

Buyers are currently cautious about the film’s prospects. The teaser received mixed reactions, and the character posters did not create much excitement. To boost confidence, a strong trailer is necessary.
Vishnu appears to be taking time to resolve these concerns. The director doesn’t have a strong reputation, meaning much of the marketing will rely on the star cast, which includes busy actors. Their availability for promotions needs to be arranged in advance. Furthermore, post-production work, especially visual effects, is a significant focus, contributing to the delays. The team expects to complete all tasks by November.
If Kannappa cannot secure a release in December or January, it may target a release around Shivratri in 2025. A final decision will come after careful consideration by the filmmakers.
