Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal is a triangular love story that has Samantha, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. The Telugu version is out and, read on to see if the film has juice in it or not.
Story
The story is simple and is based on the life of Rambo(Vijay Sethupathi) who falls in love with two women separately. He loves Kanmani(Nayanthara) during the days and loves Khatija(Samantha) at the night. But when these women know that Rambo is two-timing them, they get upset and ask him to tie the knot. But Rambo loves both of them and wants to marry both. Will the girls agree to this wacky situation is the whole story all about.
Performances
Vijay Sethupathi is just sleepwalking in his role and has no idea what is going on in the film. Looks like he has done the film to romance Samantha and Nayanthara who are big heroines. Samantha is neat in her role and the way she teases Nayanthara is also very good. But Nayanthara looks lost in her role and is subdued most of the time. She looks pale and hams to no extent in the latter part of the film. The rest of the supporting cast is just about okay and nothing great.
Analysis
Kanmani Rambo Khatija is a film that is about a man dating two women. This concept has been tried and tested in so many films in Hindi cinema already. But director Vignesh Shivan gives his own touch but adds a small flashback to Vijay Sethupathi’s role. The issue of the hero is established well in the begining but is forgoten later.
The film starts on a silly note and does not stop being dumb until the end. There are so many silly scenes that make no sense at all. The narration is so jaded that you fall asleep in the middle. If this was not enough, the acting by Samantha and Nayanthara looks silly.
One of the major aspects where the film goes wrong is the lack of emotion. There is absolutely no seriousness as the actor knew that the film will not work.
The music, camera work, and technical aspects look so bad in this film which makes us wonder as to what made such big stars even agree to do this film which is nothing but a horrible waste of time.
