The makers of the upcoming film “Kanguva,” featuring Surya in a dual role and made with a massive budget, is facing difficulties in deciding its release date. Despite the new poster released today mentioning a 2024 release, the exact date remains unclear. The film is being hyped as a Pan India spectacle but the trouble around the film is increasing day by day.
There are lot of pan-India’s releases ahead this year. Competing with other big releases such as Kalki 2898 AD in May, Indian 2 in June, Pushpa 2 in August, OG in September, and Devara and Game Changer in October, Kanguva faces a tough challenge to reserve its slot for release date. Additionally, the highly anticipated films Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time and Rajinikanth’s Vettayan are set to release in consecutive months, adding to the pressure.
While December seems too late for release, it is heard that Suriya has an idea to pick Sankranti 2025 release as an option. However, UV Creations, responsible for Kanguva Telugu release, has their film Chiranjeevi Vishwambhara in January. So, UV might not agree to it. Hence, unless any unforeseen changes occur, adjusting the release date becomes challenging.
Directed by Siruthai Siva, Kanguvarevolves around time travel, with Surya portraying two distinct characters. Bobby Deol plays the antagonist. Although there are talks of splitting the film into two parts, the makers are yet to confirm. Notably, “Kanguva” boasts the highest budget ever in Kollywood.
The uncertainty surrounding the release date persists despite the unveiling of a special poster, reflecting the complexities the production faces in navigating the competitive landscape and managing various stakeholders’ schedules.
