Kanguva box office collection:
Suriya’s much-anticipated epic action film Kanguva released on November 14 has seen a slow start at the box office. Directed by Siruthai Siva, the movie is set in the 10th century and features Suriya in dual roles. It also stars Disha Patani and Bobby Deol. Despite high expectations, the film received mixed reviews and significant criticism which affected its opening weekend earnings.
The film tells the story of Francis (Suriya), a bounty hunter who has a connection with a boy he meets in Goa leading to a journey that uncovers his past life as the warrior Kanguva. The plot revolves around his struggle to protect his clan and the mystery of his identity.
Box Office Performance:
Kanguva began with strong ticket sales earning approximately Rs 4 Crore on its opening day in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. However, the film’s box office collections saw a significant drop after the initial success:
– Day 1: Rs 5.5 Crore
– Day 2: Rs 2.2 Crore
– Day 3: Rs 1.9 Crore
– Day 4: Rs 2 Crore
– Day 5: Rs 1.14 Crore
-Day 6 : Rs 1 Crore
Total Day 6 Collection (Telugu): Approximately Rs 13.74 Crore.
Despite its star power Kanguva has not performed as expected, with the film’s fortunes being impacted by mixed fan reactions. The cast includes Suriya, Bobby Deol as the villain Udhiran and Disha Patani as Angelina. The supporting cast features notable names like Natarajan Subramaniam, K. S. Ravikumar, and Yogi Babu.
The film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja, V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati under the Studio Green and UV Creations banners. The music composed by Devi Sri Prasad is one of the highlights of the film though it hasn’t been enough to sustain the box office numbers.
