In a recent development, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has assured the Sikh community that his government will consider banning the release of Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Emergency, pending legal consultation. This news was in the words of Md Ali Shabbir, an adviser to the state government who spoke to representatives of the Tagana Sikh Society (TSS) after their meetings. The way eagles are blindfolded so is the reasoning of Congress hence they cannot put a Proscription order on the said film.
“Sikh, Sikhs and Sikhs” – This was the cry made to the Andhra government by the TSS respectfully depicting the Fathers of the State’s present nation, through a memorandum. In a similar vein, they were probably doing the same with the state minister for cinematography, the Hyderabad police commissioner, and other authorities. A complaint was also forwarded to the Federation Of Film Society Of India regarding the film ‘Emergency’.
The TSS raised serious concerns about the film, accusing it of systematically portraying Sikhs as militant fundamentalists. From their point of view, it was made with a deliberate design to smear the community, especially against the background of the historical pain of June 1984, marked by the anti-Sikh riots in India. The film is branded because of the years of pain the Sikh community has gone through as a result of misrepresentations on screen as seen in this film.
The triumvirate was more than keen to embrace any services rendered by the Sikh community which comprises 2% of Telangana’s population but 12 percent of the Armed Forces of India, many of whom offered their lives to serve the Country. They addressed the young Sikh sentiments regarding the feeling of distress and rage, towards the film, and how they are presented.
The President of Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda, S. Inder Singh has designated an email on this extinctous king inciting religious sentiments that is Kangana Ranaut urging authorities to act. Many anti-Sikh scenes in the movie’s trailer were denounced by the Sikhs called it a request to beg pardon from the filmmakers.
