The COVID-19 pandemic has put doctors and healthcare staff in the front-line. However, with the taboo surrounding the death of coronavirus patients, a doctor from Chennai was denied a dignity in burial as the residents opposed his burial ritual fearing the spread of virus. The person in question was Dr Simon where his nearly 100 members opposed his burial and attacked the family members including cops who tried to do it.
The 55-year-old was the Managing Director of New Hope Hospital in Chennai. He had helped over numerous patients and always put humanity as first, said by his colleague Dr Pradeep. However, the same residents didn’t reciprocate he same in his death fearing over COVID-19 spread by the deceased. Reacting to the situation, actor-politician Kamal Haasan has now reacted sternly expressing his disappointment calling it a demon act. Checkout his Twitter handle:
