Malayalam movie Jallikattu has been picked as India’s official entry for Oscars 2021. Film Federation of India picked the movie as the official nomination in the Foreign Film category and made a statement. Lijo Jose Pellissery is the director of the movie. The film had become a huge hit when it was released in theatres last year.

The film was dubbed in Telugu and released on the Aha streaming platform.A 14-member committee of the Film Federation of India has reviewed almost 27 movies and picked Jallikattu. Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo, Safdar Rahman’s Chippa, Hansal Mehta’s Chaalaang, Chaitanya Tamhane’s The Disciple, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan’s Bittersweet, Rohena Gera’s Is Love Enough, Sir, Geethu Mohandas’s Moothon, Nila Madhab Panda’s Kalira Atita, Anvita Dutt’s Bulbbul, Hardik Mehta’s Kaamyaab, and Chintu Ka Birthday were also in the list.Last year, the Film Federation of India picked Gully Boy as India’s official entry at the Oscars.
The 93rd Academy Awards are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on April 25th, next year.Set in Kerala’s Idukki district’s backdrop, the story of Jallikattu revolves around a tamed buffalo that liberates itself from its owner just before its scheduled slaughter.
