Jagan Mohan Reddy’s downfall
Karma often returns to those who misuse their power and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is experiencing this now. During his tenure, Jagan was known for his attempts to belittle opposition leaders. However, in this year’s elections, the people chose to remove him from power leading to a decisive defeat against the coalition of TDP, JSP, and BJP.
The upcoming assembly sessions in Andhra Pradesh are set to start soon, and reports suggest that Jagan Mohan Reddy will not be granted a front-row seat. Traditionally, significant leaders, including those with opposition status, occupy these seats. However, Jagan’s party, YSR Congress, only managed to win 11 seats out of 175, which is less than 10% of the total seats. This disqualifies the party from being recognized as the official opposition.

The speaker and ruling parties have not accepted YSR Congress’s request for opposition status, citing their insufficient seat count. Consequently, Jagan will only serve as a floor leader, a significant demotion for someone who once held the highest office in the state.
This turn of events underscores a major setback for Jagan Mohan Reddy, reflecting the public’s discontent and the consequences of his previous actions. He will now have to navigate his political journey from a less influential position within the assembly.
