Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s family has witnessed a significant increase in their assets over the past five years. As per the declaration made on Monday, April 22, Jagan’s family assets now stand at Rs 757 crore, showing a growth of over 48 per cent since the last declaration.

Jagan, who is also the chief of the YSR Congress party (YSRCP), submitted his family’s assets affidavit along with his nomination papers for the Pulivendula Assembly constituency in Kadapa district. His own assets, as per the 2019 election affidavit, amount to Rs 510.35 crore.

The increase in assets is notable in various aspects. Jagan’s wife, Bharti Reddy, has seen her assets grow from Rs 124 crore to Rs 176.30 crore over the past five years. Similarly, their movable assets, including investments in companies like Bharathi Cement and Sandur Power, have seen substantial growth.

It’s noteworthy that despite their significant assets, the family does not own any vehicles except for one bulletproof Scorpio registered under Jagan’s name but owned by others. Their daughters, YS Harshini Reddy and YS Varsha Reddy, also possess considerable movable and immovable assets.

However, along with their assets, the family also bears liabilities amounting to Rs 26.55 crore. Jagan himself faces 26 criminal cases, including those filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate under various acts.

The breakdown of their assets reveals a mix of self-acquired and inherited wealth. Jagan holds the majority of the assets, including investments in bonds and shares, while Bharathi and their daughters also have significant assets in their names.

Their assets include offshore investments and immovable properties, showcasing a diversified portfolio. The family’s total income as per their IT returns for the 2022-23 financial year amounts to Rs 73.68 crore.

Despite their wealth, the family faces liabilities, including disputes, which exceed Rs 35 crore. Jagan and Bharathi individually bear significant portions of these liabilities.
