Keerthy Suresh entered a different league altogether with her sterling performance in Mahanati. She knows the range she has achieved with this film. But, since Mahanati, she hasn’t signed any Telugu film. That is because she wants her roles to be special. She declined Balayya Babu’s offer to essay the role of Savitri again for NTR biopic. So, the role went to Nithya Menon. Later, her good friend Nani wanted to cast her opposite him in his new project. But, she refused to do this project too saying that the heroine’s role does not have any importance.
It appears she has decided that she would do only those roles that are substantive and strong. There is a buzz that Rajamouli is considering her for a role in RRR, but there are lingering doubts whether her role would be meaningful.
Keerthy, it appears, wants to emerge as the second Soundarya in Telugu films. But, one wonders why she is accepting unimportant and purely ornamental roles in Tamil films. Her recent films show that they are primarily hero-oriented and her role is just that of hero’s love interest.
