Actor Akhil Akkineni has admitted that he initially had fears and doubts about whether he could really deliver justice to ‘Agent’. Bracing up for his much-anticipated movie ‘Agent’, the actor opened up about his inhibitions and how he overcame them over a period of time.
Replying to a question, “What were your preferences and limitations before taking up the story ‘Agent?” the actor replied,” I liked the genre very much. And when it comes to limitations, I was doubtful whether I could do justice to the character. I was doubtful whether I could imitate this weird-looking spy. Because I haven’t done such characters before, I did very subtle and calm performances. If you take my role in ‘Most Eligible Bachelor’, I did comedy but it was more subtle. But when it comes to ‘Agent’, I had to behave like a monkey. This means, all the time, the character should speak with a bundle of energy, he should look like he is intoxicated. He should look like a spinning top..”
Akhil added, “Basically, I am a shy person. There’s a torture sequence in ‘Agent’ only my underwear is left on me. So there were so many inhibitions creeping up on me when I accepted the role. Ok, at one point you might think that character is good and you would just jump into it. But when you’re actually doing it, you’ll be very fearful. So I was doubtful whether I could deliver what the director was expecting. It took so much time for me. Director Surender Reddy pushed me hard. He wanted me to forget the impression that audiences had in their mind. That chocolate boy image.
Akhil further expressed his love for action films. “I like Rajamouli sir’s films. But I really don’t know why I have this love towards action dramas. I couldn’t even recollect where and when the seed was sown in my mind. Seriously I’ve no clue.”
