The queen of Indian television Ekta Kapoor was feted with FLO (FICCI Ladies Organisation) Icon Award for Media Entrepreneurship. Ekta was given the award at Vigyan Bhawan where she was among 10 women achievers. After the event, during an interactive session, she opened up on “settling down”, adding that she failed to under why journalists have often link settling down to marriage.
“When are you settling down?’ How much more do I need to settle down? I really don’t understand why settling down is linked to getting married. For years, my father and mother saved the best of alcohol for my marriage,” she said. “This year, the defining moment of my life came when my father took all of that out on his 75th birthday. It was a celebration of today and not expectations of tomorrow,” Ekta added.
Ekta started her work when she aged 24 and now she says that as she aged her work has evolved ancalledll it “non-conformist work”.
