An Indian truck driver, identified as Jaskirat Singh Sidhu has been jailed in Canada for eight-years for a fatal accident which killed 16 people. The 30-year-old truck driver was pleaded guilty in January for killing or injuring people after his truck rammed into the bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos hockey team and others en route to a playoff game. Judge Inez Cardinal hearing the case, said, “Most find the pain unbearable,” adding, “Families have been torn apart.”
The accident happened on April 6, 2018, where Singh’s truck failed to stop at the intersection. The accident killed 16 people and injured 13 on the bus. Singh’s verdict has come as the harshest ever in the history of Canada.
