The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has initiated the demolition of illegal constructions built by Neha Reddy, daughter of YCP MP Vijayasai Reddy, at Bhimili Beach. Neha Reddy had constructed concrete barricades near the sea, violating Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules.

The issue came to light after Janasena corporator Murthy Yadav filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court, accusing Neha Reddy of violating CRZ regulations. In response, the High Court ordered the authorities to stop any illegal construction on the beach. On September 2nd, the GVMC issued notices to Neha Reddy, instructing her to remove the encroachments within 24 hours or face demolition.

Following these orders, GVMC officials began the demolition process. The High Court had earlier directed the authorities to report on the actions taken regarding the illegal construction, with the next hearing set for September 11th. Advocate Ponnada Srivyas, representing Murthy Yadav, argued that the authorities were initially slow to act despite the ongoing violations.

This development marks a significant setback for Neha Reddy and reinforces the importance of adhering to environmental regulations in coastal areas.
