HYDRA’s sweep puts BRS MLA in the spotlight: What’s next?

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) has gained attention across Telangana with its aggressive campaign against illegal structures. This drive has created concerns among several prominent personalities, including politicians and industrialists, who fear that their properties built on encroached land could be targeted next.

One of the key figures in the spotlight is BRS leader and Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. Recently, an FIR was lodged against him, alleging that he illegally constructed Anurag University within the buffer zone of a lake in Venkatapuram, Medchal Malkajgiri district. Despite these accusations, Palla maintains that all necessary permits were obtained legally for the construction of his institutions.

The controversy deepened when protests broke out at another property owned by Rajeshwar Reddy—Neelima Medical College—located near Anurag University. Protesters claimed that 4.5 acres of land were forcibly taken under the name of Gayatri Educational Trust to build the college. They demanded that the illegal structures be demolished. Tensions escalated when Rajeshwar Reddy’s associates attempted to silence the protesters, leading to a confrontation and the filing of cases by both parties at the local police station.

As HYDRAA continues its crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the public is left wondering whether Palla Rajeshwar Reddy’s troubles are far from over, with potential repercussions looming large due to the agency’s actions.
