The Telangana government has intensified its efforts to curb illegal constructions and encroachments on public lands, particularly around lakes. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made it clear that no one will be spared, whether they are influential figures or connected to the government. To enforce this, the government launched the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA), which has shown significant progress in just three months. So far, HYDRA has demolished 18 unauthorized structures and reclaimed 44 acres of public land.

The agency’s actions have drawn public support. The Gandipet Welfare Society organized a Support Walk, emphasizing the need to protect Hyderabad’s lakes and their surrounding ecosystems. Citizens and local authorities participated in the event to highlight the importance of preserving these vital resources.

HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath submitted a report detailing several high-profile demolitions, including properties associated with prominent politicians and business figures. Among those affected are Pallam Anand (brother of Congress leader Pallam Raju), Mohmad Mubeen (AIMIM MLA), GV Bhaskar Rao (Kaveri Seeds owner), and Mirza Rahmat Beig (AIMIM MLC). The demolitions occurred across various areas, including Gandipet, Banjara Hills, and Ameerpet, reinforcing the government’s commitment to reclaiming public lands.
