Gone were the days when couples wanted divorce citing infidelity, lack of romantic intimacy or conflicts arising out of dowry, regular quarrels and fights to uphold the authority. Now the mindset of people has changed drastically. Probably because of the change in cultural shifts.
The corporate attitude among working men/women brings diverse behavioural changes in the current generation. Hyderabad-Integrated Court for Family Law and Justice alone is receiving 25 to 30 cases daily. The divorce cases at Ranga Reddy District Court, Kukatpally Court and Malkajgiri Court are surging at an alarming rate. Approximately, 6,000 divorce cases are still pending in all these courts.
The reasons may appear silly but couples are adamant to dissolve their marriages. Reasons comprise of – not brushing teeth, or posting single status on the social media platform, or reason why wife spending more time with domestic pets than with him.
Take the case of a person in Banjara Hills who was married to a woman who is native of Vijayawada, 10 years ago. Both have earned good incomes working in the IT industry in the USA. Both lived unknowingly about each other’s income and personal lives for 10 years. So the man applied for divorce citing that his wife isn’t sharing her economic, family, work-life issues with him. She doesn’t even show the love and affection that she has for a pet dog.
On the other hand, the wife cited that her husband has become a hurdle to her career growth. She cited that marriage hasn’t augured well in her life.
Such cases are plenty. Legal experts feel that 70 percent of divorce cases are because of cellphone usage. Gadget makes people occupied. Husbands filed cases citing that their spouses are not concerned about them when they return home after toiling whole day at work. In one case, husband claimed that his wife keeps on watching reels on YouTube and Instagram. The lawyer, who has taken up the case, had to convince the spouse to dispose of the smartphone and settled the issue. Thus he made a truce between the couple by making the wife use a keypad phone for daily purposes.
