A 28-year-old Rapido driver allegedly raped a minor girl in the Tukaram Gate police station area of Secunderabad. The accused lured the girl, who was walking alone, to a lodge and committed the crime, according to the police. The victim reported the incident, leading to the arrest of the accused and an ongoing investigation.
The incident began when a 16-year-old girl’s parents scolded her for frequent phone use. On the 19th of the month, they reprimanded her again, prompting the upset girl to leave the house and wander on the road. Later, her parents reported her as missing to the Tukaram Gate police, who launched a search for her.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy, a 28-year-old Rapido driver living in a men’s hostel in Habsiguda, noticed the girl walking alone while he was working. He approached her, asked where she was going, and convinced her to ride with him. He then took her to different areas including Kukatpally, Kondapur, and Tank Bund. Eventually, he deceived her and took her to a lodge in Kacheguda, where he raped her. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
Terrified, the girl returned home and told her parents about what had happened. They immediately filed a complaint at the Tukaram Gate police station. The police registered a case and took the girl to the hospital for a medical examination. The accused was arrested and remanded on Tuesday.
