Legendary director, Priyadarshan is ready with his new film Hungama which is now streaming on Hotstar. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it.
Plot
The plot is so simple and clean. Akash(Meezan Jaffrey) is on the verge of marrying a rich girl. But in the nick of time, a girl named Vaani(Pranitha Subhash) enters the scene and says that Akash has ditched her along with the baby. This creates so much confusion in Akash’s life who takes the help of Anjali(Shilpa Shetty) to solve this issue. Will he do it or not, that forms the story.
Performances
Shilpa Shetty is just there for the heck of it and has no role at all. One wonders why she even accepted the role in the first place. Meezan Jaffrey is good and has the moves like his dad. Pranitha Subhash gets a meaty role and she was very impressive. Ashutosh Rana and Tiku Talsania were good. Rajpal Yadav had a small role but he was hilarious in the film. Paresh Rawal had the best part but somehow the makers did not highlight him.
Analysis
Hungama 2 is the remake of Priyadarshan’s own film from the past. He just added the Hindi ethics to it and remade it. But in all this, he got stuck in the old template and added the same old boring comedy which does not work.
The film has some seasoned actors and evokes good laughs but the emotions and story have so many loopholes that the good aspects get covered. The music is bad, the first half has no sense and the whole angle of Pranitha and hero Meezan looks over the top.
The trailer shows that the film is based on Shilpa and Paresh Rawal’s track. But that is not the case as the film has other agenda and fails to entertain whatsoever. All those who see the brand name and try to watch the film will be disappointed to no extent.
Bottom Line – Fails to evoke laughs
