How much was David Warner paid for his role in Robinhood?

Australian cricketer David Warner has made his acting debut in the Telugu film Robinhood, directed by Venky Kudumula. The movie which stars Nithiin and Sreeleela has hit theatres recently with Warner playing an important role.

According to reports, Warner was paid ₹3 crore for his cameo. He filmed his scenes during IPL 2024. Producer Ravi Shankar from Mythri Movie Makers had earlier announced that Warner would be appearing in the film, surprising fans.

David Warner played a brief role of just 2 minutes and 50 seconds in Robinhood. Despite the short screen time, reports suggest he was paid ₹2.5 crore for the cameo. He reportedly shot for two days, earning ₹1.25 crore per day. This makes him one of the highest-paid cameo actors. His presence has significantly increased the buzz around Robinhood making it one of the most talked-about Telugu films of the season.

After completing his shoot, Warner traveled to India to promote the film. He participated in events and even made social media videos with the lead actors. However, a controversy arose when senior actor Rajendra Prasad made certain remarks about Warner at a pre-release event. Prasad later apologized, clarifying that his words were misunderstood.

Robinhood is Venky Kudumula’s third directorial venture, following Chalo (2018) and Bheeshma (2020). Rashmika Mandanna was initially considered for the female lead but due to scheduling conflicts, the role went to Sreeleela.

Before its release, the film faced another controversy regarding the special song Adhi Dha Surprisu featuring Ketika Sharma. The song received mixed reactions for its dance moves. The movie also stars actors like Vennela Kishore, Rajendra Prasad, Devdatta Nage and Shine Tom Chacko.

Released on March 28, just ahead of the Ugadi festival, Robinhood has received a mixed response from both critics and audiences.
