Of late, Ravi Teja has slipped into the category of an “overrated commercial hero” in Tollywood. Of course, because of the hits at the box office. Last year, three of his movies were released in theatres. And this year also three. Another is also likely to be released soon. Apart from this, he has another couple of projects in the pipeline.
Now the Mass Maharaja is one of the busiest actors in Tollywood, albeit commercially. Ravi Teja is a money spinner now. He neither gives any trouble to the producer nor to the technicians. He single-handedly wrapped the shoot ‘Dhamaka’ and released it in December while simultaneously working on ‘Ravanasura’ and ‘Tiger Nageshwararao’. Now ‘Ravanasura’ is scheduled for theatrical release.
All these films have done commercially well. But none of them has really earned a good name for Ravi Teja. For producers who bankrolled all these projects, Ravi Teja is a safe bet and commercially viable hero.
The performances and characters that he played are less-talked about topics. None of them have really packed the punch. A section fans feel that he should stop doing larger-than-life characters which are anyway not suiting him. Films like ‘Sindhuram’, ‘Naa Autograph’, Nee Kosam’ that came initial years of his acting career had brought him closer to audience. Fans want to see Ravi Teja in the roles that really add weightage to him.
