Plot
Arjun(Ashok Galla) is a wanna-be hero who is in love with Subbu(Nidhi Agerwal). But Subbu’s dad(Jagapathi Babu) does not approve of this relationship. If this was not enough, a parcel gets misplaced and Arjun receives a gun. This creates a panic in his life only to find out that it has been brought to Hyderabad to kill one of his family members. How did Arjun clears this problem and wins Subbu’s love is the story.
Performances
Ashok Galla has been nicely trained and that shows on screen. He dances well and also emotes nicely. But he needs to improve a lot with his facial expressions. Nidhi Agerwal looks sensuous and has great glamor on display. Brahmaji is good in his comic role. Naresh does his bit as the hero’s father. Jagapathi Babu for a change got a different role in this film. Ravi Kishan appears after a long time in Telugu films.
Analysis
Hero is directed by Sriram Aditya and has a good dose of comedy and thrill. His screenplay is what makes this film click. The situations, conflict points, and emotions are very routine. But the manner in which he runs the narration is what impresses here.
The film takes a new route when the missing gun angle comes into the picture. This creates a lot of suspense in the proceedings and the first half is halted with a good hit.
But the moment you think, the game is going to get high, things fall down as the twist about Jagapathi Babu and his acting interests make the film silly. There are good comedy scenes during this time but the manner in which they are narrated looks rushed.
Hero is a film that gives ample scope for Ashok Galla to impress and he does. The makers have given his good support in the form of actors, comedy, and good songs by Ghibran. All this makes sure that the film is a neat watch for those who like over-the-top comedies.
Bottom Line – Loud but funny
