As the Jharkhand Assembly polls vote counting began, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren name echoed who is likely to be chief minster for the second time. JMM and its ally congress took over BJP.
Soren would be succeeding the BJP’s Raghubar Das, who was the first Chief Minister in the state to complete a five-year term. Jharkhand formed in 2000, had witnessed nine governments and three stints of President’s Rule. Meanwhile, Soren has brought up progressive policies like 50 per cent reservation in government jobs for women, and played an instrumental part in tackling the Maoist insurgency. He has championed for the economic dividends of the mineral rich state reaching the tribal communities.
