Haseen Dilruba Movie Review

Taapsee is doing some really strong female-oriented films in the last few years. Next in line is Haseen Dilruba which is out now. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Rani(Taapsee) is fresh from her breakup and gets forced into an arranged marriage. She loves fantasy and is bored with her routine kind of a husband played by Vikrant Massey(Rishu). At the same time, her husband’s cousin enters the scene and Rani has an affair with him. Things change upside down as Rani’s husband gets killed. The cops start an investigation and suspect Rani. Who is the murderer is the basic story?

Performances

Vikrant Massey is the best part of the film as his performance is the one that stands out. The young actor is on another level as he shows lust, deceit, and many other expressions in a solid way. Harshvardhan Rane is getting better with every film and he does superbly in this film as the handsome hunk who falls for Taapsee. Speaking of Taapsee, she is not in the usual best as she tries way too hard to act in her complex role. The graph of her role is also overboard and she does not give what is expected. Aditya Srivastava slips back into his CID avatar with a vengeance.

Analysis

The film starts with the death of Taapsee’s husband and the cops start suspecting Rani as she has an affair with another man. This plot looks good and Taapsee starts narrating her story of how she was forced into her marriage. The plot is set up well but there is no depth in the emotions.

The first half is filled with scenes of Taapsee and Vikrant Massey try to make their marriage work. Things start looking good in the second half and the twist that comes, in the end, is also well thought off. But it is the writing by Kanika Dhillon which is weak. It does not bring anything new to the table and supports the old suspecting problems within the marriage.

The twists are good but to enjoy them the film is filled with the boredom of scenes. The last 15 minutes is quite engaging and we can give the film a shot only for this reason and nothing else.

Bottom Line – Okayish Thriller
