Allu Arjun should have said yes to Vetrimaran when the latter offered him a role, a powerful negative role, back in 2017 when the director was shooting ‘Vada Chennai’ starring Dhanush. The movie went on to become a cult hit in the south film industry.
But Allu Arjun had refused to do it. Because he knows he wants something big if he gets into the space of Tamil cinema.
Vetrimaran who was in Hyderabad yesterday for the promotion of his much-acclaimed movie ‘Viduthalai 1’ which is dubbed in Telugu as ‘Vidudala 1’, shared about his conversation with Allu Arjun four years ago. “Allu Arjun flew down to Chennai to meet me. He told me that he wants to expand his market in Tamil Nadu. He asked me if both could plan a movie. I was shooting ‘Vada Chennai’ at that time. So I told him that there’s a powerful role opposite Dhanush. I told him to see if he has an interest in playing it, but he declined,” he added.
The role went to Ameer, who received great applause as the film turned out to be a cult classic. Imagine the range of Allu Arjun if he had taken the chance in the film. His stardom would have increased multifold. But one thing that lingered in his mind was his stardom in Tollywood, he wanted to make it big if he wanted to foray into the Tamil market. So he might have thought doing an antagonist role opposite Dhanush would eventually affect his reputation.
