Mahesh Babu’s ‘Guntur Kaaram’ hit theaters on Friday, January 12, marking the actor’s return to the big screen since the 2022 release ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata.’ Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, the film initially enjoyed a strong opening, marking a noteworthy Rs 41.30 crores nett in India on its day 1.
Despite the promising start, the film faced a significant setback on its second day, with collections dropping to around Rs 13 crores, as per early estimates. This dip in performance resulted in a total net collection of just Rs 54.30 crores.
The action drama, which marks the third collaboration between Trivikram and Mahesh Babu after their successful ventures ‘Athadu’ and ‘Khaleja,’ features a star-studded cast including Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Jayaram, Prakashraj, and Sunil.
In a notable gesture, Mahesh Babu attended a screening of ‘Guntur Kaaram’ at a Hyderabad theatre on Saturday, joining the audience for the show. However, the film’s box office performance faced a reality check on the second day, following a strong opening, attributed partly to mixed reviews.
As reported by the film’s team, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ managed to secure a worldwide collection of Rs 94 crore. Produced by Haarika & Hassine Creations, the movie features music by S Thaman, editing by Naveen Nooli, and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and PS Vinod.
