Plot
Vasu(Sundeep Kishan) belongs to a Rowdy family. He falls in love with Neha Shetty who is the daughter of constable Patta Pagalu. The entire family is facing issues from a gangster called Bairagai and they ask Vasu for help. How does Vasu handle this deadly situation and go against Vasu is the story.
Performances
Sundeep Kishan is good in his role and has made sure that he is elevated well in all the action blocks. Neha Shetty looks good and plays her supporting role impressively. Bobby Simha overacts for no reason and his character looks forced from scene one.
Rajendra Prasad is a pro when it comes to comedy and he is the sole actor who impressed from scene one. Vennela Kishore, Viva Harsha do well in their roles. The main villain Bairagi is also very good but he is not used well.
Analysis
Gully Rowdy is directed by Nageswara Reddy who is known to make comedy capers. So, as a writer, he has made sure that the comedy blocks create good fun. But in this, the seriousness in the film is lacking.
The comedy generated between the family members of Rajendra Prasad was so good to see. But the moment, Bobby Simha enters the scene, the film goes for a toss as the scenes look quite forced.
There is no villain in the second half and the conflict point is not highlighted at all. This part is filled with comedy scenes only. The songs are good and the manner in which the editing is done is not that great.
But the makers have made sure that the comedy is there at regular intervals. If you are the one who is looking at that aspect, Gully Rowdy will impress you. But story-wise, there is nothing new to savior.
Bottom Line – Comedy works rest fail
