Godzilla Minus One a Japanese film directed by Takashi Yamazaki, premiered in theatres in November 2023 and has now been released on OTT platforms. As of June 1 it is available for streaming on Netflix. The movie produced on a budget of ₹125 crore ($15 million), garnered impressive box office earnings of ₹959 crore ($115 million) during its theatrical run.
The film is accessible in multiple languages, including Japanese, English, Hindi, Italian, and German. Besides Netflix, it can also be found on Amazon, Apple iTunes, Google Play and Microsoft.
“Godzilla Minus One” made history by becoming the first Godzilla movie in 70 years to win an Oscar. At the 96th Academy Awards, it secured the Best Visual Effects award, triumphing over notable films like “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”.
The storyline of “Godzilla Minus One” is set shortly after World War II. It follows Koichi, a soldier traumatized by his initial encounter with Godzilla, who sees the new threat near Tokyo as an opportunity to atone for his past actions.

Established in 1932, Toho Group has grown to be a major entity in both Japanese and international cinema, involved in production, distribution, and exhibition of films. Hiro Matsuoka, Toho’s president and CEO, has emphasized the company’s focus on the North American market as part of its global strategy. He explained that operating out of Hollywood is crucial for delivering content to a worldwide audience. Despite the evolving landscape due to the rise of streaming and the increasing popularity of anime Toho remains dedicated to its fan-centric approach.
