Geetha Govindam Movie Review, Rating
Story
Vijay (Govinda) works as a lecturer and dreams of getting married by finding his dream girl. He considers his wife to be everything after marriage, which hints at his character that he wants to settle down quickly. As fate has, he by chance encounters Geetha (Rashmika) in a temple and at the first sight, he falls in love with her. And he falls for her more knowing that she follows traditions (he first met her in a temple). But director Prasuram doesn’t follow the routine trope where hero chases heroine to win her. But they rather make the lead couple meet up accidentally which happens a bus journey. As Govind tries to introduce and strike a conversation with Geetha, she thinks him to be a compulsive flirt and is always wary of strangers. However, one incident changes everything for Govinda which also put him in trouble with his family.
What happens to his love. Will he succeed in marrying Geetha forms the crux of the plot.
Performance
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna shine in their characters and the casting is spot on. Other characters like Naga Babu and Subba Raju does a decent performance, however, Rahul Ramkrishna who always appears funny in his comic style doesn’t shine though. But the surprise package is Vennela Kishore who steals the show in the climax scene.
Analysis
The film plot is has beaten trope but this rom-com stand out due to its interesting narration an with an honest performance by the lead roles who pull it off like no one does. The story by John oozes freshness and director Sukumar finds his foothold while creating the magic on-screen. Having said that, the film has its own loopholes like the first half is brilliant but post interval it becomes sluggish and repetitive but we can overlook due to other things that fall in place apt. Rashmika and Vijay’s chemistry is crackling and being the production values are decent considering its Bunny Vyas and Allu Arvanid as producers.
Verdict
If you love rom-com films, then Geetha Govindam falls in your watch-list
