Director Sampath Nandi is chilling out at his farm house in Chilkur, which is forty kilometres from his home. He posted a video on his Instagram and gave us a peek into his get-away. He tells Klapboardpost.com, “It has been a long time since I procured this chunk and I like it a lot. Every Sunday, we go there and have a vana bhojanam and the kids love that time we spend there. I am planning to construct a small village type home there soon.” Coming to his film, he says it will have a solid impact if released in the theatre, the screenplay is too good, and he is sure that his hard work will bear good results.

“It isn’t a bio pic, it is a fictional story titled Seetimarr. It is partly based on the life of a Kabbadi player from a man in my village. I was inspired to do a story on this man but the film is not entirely that. This person played nationals. He would always question me as to why we don’t make a movie on such a mass game. That line stuck with me ever since. He is 45 years old now and got a job in the sports quota and similarly in Seetimarr too, Gopichand too gets a job as a bank employee in the sports quota. In the story, we had taken three or four real Kabaddi players and the rest had been selected and trained. It has become a happening game after the advent of Pro-Kabaddi. The ones who acted in the film are actually representing Telangana in the Nationals,” says the director.

Since Sampath Nandi was encouraging the sport through his film, he and his team had been allowed three months in LB Stadium to practice for a lesser price. He says the atmosphere surrounding Kabaddi is infectious and pulsating and you should be there to watch it live and actually believe what’s happening out there. “Once they win in the Nationals, they get a government job. The moment we told them the story, the players liked it. Once they were in the game none could match them and when it came to facing the camera for dialogues, we did rehearsals. ETV Prabhakar’s daughter is a gem, she trained for three months and is playing on par with the real players. Preeti Asrani who did Malli Raava is also in the film. Despite the injuries they worked hard for the film. Tamannaah and Gopichand have been trained by the Telangana  and Andhra coaches.”
