In our South Indian film industry, generally heroines will be ignored for the lead roles once they get married and they will only be offered mother and sister roles. Veteran actress Nadhiya opposed this kind of culture and said that even married women with kids are also desirable and they should be casted in lead roles.
Speaking in an interview, Nadhiya said “I think middle age is an interesting phase for women as well as men and it should be explored in films. It is a shame that actors are being paired with the heroines of their daughters’ age. This formula doesn’t work for me. But sadly, if it didn’t work, they wouldn’t have been making these kinds of films.” She also added that women actors in the industry accept their age and are more secure about their appearance than are the men.
