The much-awaited film Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher, has officially premiered on Netflix. Originally set for an OTT release on March 17, the film surprised fans by arriving earlier on March 14, coinciding with the festival of Holi. The streaming platform announced the news through social media, stating, “The gripping story of power and peril. Watch Emergency, now on Netflix.”
Kangana Ranaut who directed and produced the film also shared the update with her followers, emphasizing its historical significance. She wrote, “A nation, a decision, an emergency. Now streaming on Netflix.”
Emergency is a political drama that brings to life the tumultuous period in Indian history when the country was placed under Emergency from June 25, 1975, to March 21, 1977. The film portrays the role of Indira Gandhi, India’s first female Prime Minister, during this controversial time.
