‘Em Chestunnav?’ is among the list of releases in the fag end of August. Though it is a small budget flick with most of the actors being newbies, the film created a reasonable buzz with Sri Vishnu unveiling its trailer a week ago. As the film released on Friday, let’s see if it has any juice in it!

Performances
There aren’t many familiar faces in the movie. Senior actress Aamani, who played the role of the hero’s mother, does a remarkable job.
Kancharapalem Raju is seen in a few scenes. The male protagonist Vijay who played the character of youngster Sai does subtled performance. But he needs to improve his craft further.
The female lead in the film Neha Pathan looked impressive with her stellar looks. Her cute expressions are captivating on the screen. Another heroine, Amita Ranganath looked just okay. The rest of the actors too have done their bit to add strength to the story.
Review
Actor VIjay Kumar’s brother Bharat Mitra has written and directed the film. Inspired by real-life incidents, the story revolves around the confusions among today’s youngsters. A good theme for a full length cinema. Even, similarities can be found with Siva Karthikeyan’s ‘College Don’ that came last year.
The trailer seemed natural as characters speak to each other. Some sequences in the first half are very impressive. This shows that director Bharat has a knack for storytelling. But post the first half, the story slightly loses its balance.
Narration feels sloppy. Emotional scenes feel too heavy. Care should have been taken in such portions. Technically, the film looks good. Prem Adivi’s cinematography is appreciable. Gopi Sundar’s music is the only saving grace for the movie. The production design could have been better.

Verdict
Em Chestunnav? portrays the mindset of today’s youngsters. Their preferences, their private life, what pleases them ultimately — is what the film harps on. If the second half was taken seriously, the result would have been better.
