Enjoying a blue tick on Twitter is a privilege not many could get. But on Friday, all popular Telugu celebrities were taken in for a rude shock when their blue tick (verified status) disappeared. Many other professionals working in various fields have found their blue tick stripped off by Twitter.
Megastar Chiranjeevi, Powerstar Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, Icon Star Allu Arjun, Venkatesh Daggubati, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Akhil Akkineni, Nithin, Prakash Raj, Pooja Hegde, Keerthy Suresh, Samantha, Rakul Preet Singh, Manchu Lakshmi, Manchu Manoj and blue tick of several other celebrities have disappeared.
Even politicians and principal opposition leader in AP Assembly Nara Chandrababu Naidu and AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy too have lost the status of their verified accounts. However, Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao and Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao have retained their blue ticks on Twitter.
The Twitter handle has become mandatory for almost every professional working in the market. For celebrities, the social media handle helps them to keep in touch with their fans. Give updates, or for that matter, Twitter made things easy for celebs in terms of reach and publicity of their films.
Now that blue ticks have been stripped off from many of them, there are more chances of fake accounts popping up. So it is inevitable for celebs to spend Rs 900 per month, if not Rs 9,400 per year for iOS users. Elon Musk will be literally fleecing money from Tollywood celebrities and other personalities with the newly-launched paid-for-verification system.
