Election results to be screened in theatres Election results

The Indian General Election 2024 is nearing its conclusion. The final round of voting will occur today June 1 with the results announced on June 4. In India, elections are celebrated with great enthusiasm similar to a festival. People are highly interested in post-poll surveys and eagerly await the results. Exit poll results will be revealed tomorrow evening drawing people to their TV screens to gauge the public sentiment. By June 4, anticipation will peak with citizens closely following the vote count on TVs, mobile phones, and laptops.

To enhance this experience, some movie theatre owners have decided to screen the live counting process on the big screen. This initiative, which started in Maharashtra, allows people to watch the results unfold in the company of hundreds of others in a theatre setting. The excitement of watching the election results live in a large group is expected to be a unique experience.

In Mumbai, several multiplexes such as SM5 in Kalyan and Movie Max in Sion, Kanumarg, Eternity Mall Thane, Wonder Mall Thane and Mira Road are participating in this initiative. In Pune the screenings will take place at Anamora Movie Max, while in Nagpur, it will be at Movie Max Eternity, and in Nashik, at Movie Max: The Zone. The screenings will start at 9 am and are expected to last for over six hours. Ticket prices range from Rs. 99 to Rs. 300 per ticket.

Other states might adopt this trend in the coming days, though it won’t be possible in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh due to licensing issues. Consequently people in these Telugu states will miss the chance to experience the live election results in theatres.

This new approach provides an opportunity for people to enjoy the excitement of election day in a communal environment much like watching a blockbuster film. It underscores the festive atmosphere that surrounds elections in India offering a fresh and engaging way for citizens to connect with the democratic process.
