ED grills Tamannaah Bhatia for 8 hours in money laundering case
Tamannaah Bhatia, a prominent actress, recently faced questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case involving the HPZ Token mobile app. The investigation is focused on a fraudulent cryptocurrency and Bitcoin mining scheme that duped many investors.
According to reports, Bhatia made a celebrity appearance at an event linked to the HPZ Token app. However, the actress has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and no incriminating evidence has been found against her so far. She had earlier postponed her appearance before the ED due to work commitments but finally attended the questioning session on Thursday.

The HPZ Token app, now under investigation, is accused of deceiving investors by promising high returns from cryptocurrency mining. The Enforcement Directorate’s charge sheet, filed in March, has listed 299 accused entities, with several being connected to Chinese nationals. The app reportedly used shell companies with dummy directors to open bank accounts and merchant IDs, further hiding its illegal activities.
The case originated from an FIR filed against individuals associated with the app, accusing them of luring investors and misappropriating funds. These funds were reportedly used for illegal online gaming, betting, and investments in Bitcoin mining. Tamannaah Bhatia gave her statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) at the ED’s zonal office in Guwahati.
On the professional front, Tamannaah Bhatia was last seen in the movie Vedaa, alongside actors like John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh. She also made a brief appearance in Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Despite this legal trouble, the actress continues to remain active in the film industry.
