DYK what’s the biggest fear of Anil Ravipudi?
Director Anil Ravipudi is well-known for his entertaining films and perfect comedy timing. He recently gave a blockbuster hit with the movie Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam. But behind this confident filmmaker is a lesser-known fear — a deep fear of flying.
In a recent interview, Anil shared that he suffered from flight phobia. He used to fear that any plane he boarded would crash. This fear was so intense that he avoided flights completely for many years after flying to Australia in 2009. Instead, he travelled by bus, car, or train, even when it was inconvenient.
However, Anil decided to fight his fear instead of living with it. He began researching about airplanes, flight safety, and turbulence. He read many books and searched online to understand how safe flying actually is. He discovered that the chances of a plane crash are only 0.9%, which gave him confidence. He also learned that turbulence doesn’t mean a crash and is usually not dangerous.
Slowly, Anil started travelling by plane again. At first, it was difficult, but over time he became more comfortable. There were even days when he flew on two different flights — one in the morning and one in the evening — just to overcome the fear.
