A surprising fact emerged about the film: Vijay Sethupathi, who had previously starred alongside Kamal Haasan in Vikram, had declined a role in Indian 2.
At a public event in 2019 celebrating Kamal Haasan’s 60 years in cinema, Vijay Sethupathi revealed that he was offered a role in Indian 2. However, he chose to turn it down, though he kept his reasons private. Sethupathi expressed his desire to work with Haasan in the future and requested that Haasan’s other co-stars share their experiences working with him, believing it would benefit current and future actors.
Following this revelation, speculation arose about why Sethupathi refused the role. Some reports suggested scheduling conflicts, while others speculated that he was offered a negative role and chose to decline it. However, neither Sethupathi nor the filmmakers confirmed these rumors.
