
DYK Allu Arjun once Played Kamal Haasan’s Grandson in blockbuster film
Allu Arjun had a lesser-known role in his childhood. In 1986, he acted as a child artist in the Telugu movie Swathi Muthyam. In the film, he played the role of Kamal Haasan’s grandson.
Swathi Muthyam is a romantic drama written and directed by K. Viswanath. The story revolves around an orphaned man with a low intellectual ability due to a brain injury. He lives with his grandmother in a village. The man meets a widow and her young son. When the widow struggles to support her child, the man steps in to help. Their relationship evolves into a romantic one, making this film a cult classic in Telugu cinema.
The movie featured Kamal Haasan in the lead role. It also starred actors like Radhika Sarathkumar, Gollapudi Maruti Rao, Sarath Babu and Nirmalamma. Allu Arjun’s appearance as a child artist was a highlight. The film was later remade in Kannada as Swathi Muthu and in Hindi as Eeshwar, starring Anil Kapoor.
Currently, Allu Arjun is enjoying massive success with Pushpa 2: The Rule. The movie originally released on December 5, 2024. A reloaded version with 20 extra minutes was added on January 17, 2025. The film continues the story of Pushparaju and his rise in the smuggling syndicate. Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil also reprise their roles in the movie.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is preparing for his next big release, Thug Life. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam, also stars Silambarasan TR in a key role.
