Netflix surprised Shah Rukh Khan’s fans on Valentine’s Day with the unexpected release of his latest film, Dunki. For SRK enthusiasts, the actor’s film releases are like festive occasions, and this surprise streaming on Netflix added an extra touch of joy.
The film was released on 21 December 2023 competing with Prabhas’Salaar. Despite mixed reviews, the star power of SRK contributed to “Dunki” becoming a global box office success, with ₹470 crores earned worldwide and around ₹220 crores in India.
However the surprise release of SRK’s film led to a loss in instant views and the film’s magnitude and media coverage is expected to compensate for it.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, known for delivering entertaining films, Dunkifollows the story of a soldier helping friends reach the UK illegally. Taapsee Pannu played the female lead, Vicky Kaushal delivered a terrific cameo, and the production was handled by Gauri Khan and Rajkumar Hirani under Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films.
