In Hyderabad, a drunken driver caused a series of accidents, resulting in one death and severe injuries to 11 people. Patharla Kranthi Kumar, highly intoxicated, created chaos in the city’s IT corridor on Sunday night.
Between 12:30 am and 1:30 am, Kranthi was involved in six accidents, spanning from IKEA to Kamineni Hospitals near Raidurg Police Station. One accident led to a young person’s death, and 11 others were severely injured. Kranthi, a resident of Pragathi Nagar, drove home after heavy alcohol consumption.
Near Ikea, he hit a stationary car, injuring a woman, then proceeded to hit a motorcycle near Gachibowli’s Babu Khan line, causing severe leg injuries to the rider and two others. Another accident occurred near Pista House with no reported injuries. Local residents recognized Kranthi’s consecutive accidents, chased, and caught him. After a severe beating, he was handed over to the cops at Raidurgam Police Station. A breath analyser test showed a reading of 550, leading to his arrest and filing of a case against him.
Drunken driving poses a serious threat to public safety. Kranthi’s reckless actions resulted in tragic consequences, highlighting the importance of stringent laws and enforcement to prevent such incidents.
